Ursula has a 2.1 in French and Spanish from London University and still loves speaking or teaching these languages.  She trained to teach at Goldsmiths ( London Uni )  but decided to specialise in the primary sector. However life led her into middle schools  - Maiden Beech,  Swanmead and also  secondary schools… Wadham…Holyrood.. and The Gryphon   All have been enriching and led her to now.. early retirement from schools plus re training to teach yoga.. and she loves it. She really thought many years ago that yoga for us was just about physical strength, suppleness and continuing mobility but now she sees it is a way to understand the mind, deal with it and progress. If this sounds mysterious come along and find out what she means!

She is married with two grown up children and two grandchildren.. so not so young !!!  She was born near Liverpool but has lived in Somerset since the early seventies. She finds the landscape and the wildlife fantastic; she feels that it is a real privilege to live here. She enjoys being out in nature, walking, gardening and when it is warm enough she loves swimming in the sea. She finds learning fantastic and is, at present, training to be a hypnotherapist. She passionately believes that practising Pilates regularly brings huge benefits to both body and mind and Pilates is a form of exercise suitable and safe for all – male and female, any age or state of health or fitness.

To quote Joseph Pilates himself: ‘In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, in 30 you’ll have a whole new body’.

Sharon has been drumming for over 10 year and has experienced first hand the benefits of group drumming.  Not only is it a wonderful stress release but also a very effective tool for team building and connecting people.

Having drummed with several different British teachers and master drummers from West Africa, Sharon went on to train in Drum Circle Facilitation with Arthur Hull of Village Music Circles and with the Therapeutic Drumming Foundation in Nottingham.

Sharon is very interested in how drumming is used to benefit health and well-being.  In November 2009 she travelled to Florida to train with Jane Broder of Drum Magic and saw the therapeutic benefits being delivered in mental health institutions and both elderly care and youth detention facilities.

Elise began taking Pilates classes aged 16 as part of a 3 year Dip HE in Theatre Dance at The London Studio Centre. Here classes in all types of dance, singing and acting, prepared young individuals for the professional performing world of stage and screen. Pilates was a compulsory part of the curriculum and this was where her passionate journey for health and fitness from a mind-body perspective began.

Following graduation she continued her studies of Joseph Pilates’ methods. She was inspired to become an internationally recognised Pilates Instructor in order to combine her passions for teaching and travel and so became a STOTT PILATES® method Certified Instructor for Matwork Pilates.

After many years study and teaching in London, the peaceful and beautiful scenery of Somerset became her home once again where she currently enjoys teaching group classes of all ages and abilities as well as private 1 to 1 sessions.

Her many hobbies and interests include Yoga & Travel.  Next year she hopes to complete the first stage of Yoga Teacher Training in India and is grateful for the very special trips she has taken to Asia and South America - both places she hopes to return to in the future to teach and explore further.

She enjoys spending her time learning about nutrition and healthy living;  Dancing, singing and playing the guitar;  Rock climbing and horse riding. Her newest hobbies include Aerial trapeze and fire poi!

A big part of my life is my practice of Nichiren Daishonin’s Buddhism and being a member of the SGI-UK – The Buddhist Society for the creation of value through peace, education and culture. ‘Trust through friendship, peace through trust’.
