TAI CHI
Practitioners
Richard Bertschinger, Zabeth Macfarlane Tai Chi is a Chinese art that promotes health and well-being and which consists of a progression of relaxed, graceful and fluid movements which are performed very slowly. The gentle exercises help loosen the joints and relax the back. The slow pace means that they are also subtle and co-ordinated with breathing but also help expand the mind and focus the body's energy. This, in turn, helps to promote inner calm, balance, vitality and co-ordination. It has become well known in the West as a very effective health exercise and now mostly practised as a spiritual and physical fitness system, but Tai Chi originated primarily as a martial art fighting system for self-defence.
"The Slow World of Tai Chi" - Richard Bertshinger This is a class for beginners as well as those who are familiar with the moves of the Tai Chi form. You will be encouraged to explore the world of Tai Chi at your own pace.
Bao's Lung Fei Tai Chi - Zabeth Macfarlane Tai Chi works with a subtle current of life energy that flows through every living thing. When that flow gets blocked our health systems begins to break down. The symptoms of blocked energy are first felt as tension and stress and the practice of Tai Chi in this class helps release physical blocks as well as emotional and mental ones. This can also help those attending open up to the spiritual element of the practices. It becomes the core of our training and we aim to practice Tai Chi to heal ourselves in order to open up to a maximum flow of life energy.
