PHYSIOTHERAPY

Practitioner

Jane Redfern

Brief explanation of the therapy

It involves the treatment of pain, stiffness and muscle imbalance by physical means:  manual therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture, self help advice & appropriate exercises.

What can the client expect at the appointment

An initial detailed interview will take place when the client will be asked questions about personal details, age, occupation, lifestyle, previous medical problems, operations and accidents.  This will also analyse the movements that aggravate any condition and the posture of the client.

Diagnosis will take place and appropriate treatment suggested.

What happens in a session

Appropriate treatment of the symptoms will take place involving possible manual techniques, electrotherapy & acupuncture.  The practitioner also considers the symptoms from a holistic point of view they will then offer advice and suggest exercises to help.

How many sessions should the client need before they see a result

One to four but this will depend on the problem.

What can the therapy help

Physiotherapy can help with a number of specific problems including:
  • Musculo-skeletal problems – arthritis, sprains, strains, muscle imbalance
  • Neurological problems – hemiplegia,  Multiple Sclerosis
  • Post operative orthopaedic surgery – joint replacements

Who would benefit from this type of therapy

Anybody – but from a personal preference not children and babies.
