Brief explanation of the therapy
Healing is recognised as a therapy by the NHS and Zabeth is a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners.
Healing complements any other treatment that clients may be having, whether an orthodox treatment and/or another complementary therapy.
In healing, the practitioner provides the energy by being a 'channel'. The energy is not forced in by the healer, it is drawn in through the healer by the receiver from another energy system. Healing brings the body, mind and spirit back into balance, promoting self-healing. Healing is non-invasive and is a process of revitalisation and release at a very profound level that helps the body heal at its own pace and in its own way. What can the client expect at the appointment
The sessions are informal and relaxing. At the first session, client will be asked to give information about reasons for seeking treatment.
What will happen in a session
Healing treatments are on an individual basis and usually last about one hour. The receiver lies, fully clothed, on a treatment couch or sits in a chair if preferred, and the healing practitioner usually works with her hands a short distance from the receiver’s body or sometimes using a light touch with the client's consent.
Experiences during a treatment vary from one person to another. The client may feel pleasant sensations of warmth, coolness, tingling or other physical sensations. They may experience a very deep sense of peace and relaxation, feel underlying emotions, go into a refreshing sleep, see images or colours, recall memories or receive inspiration on how to resolve a current problem, they may feel pain coming to the surface and usually dispersing quickly as healing goes to work.
Healing treatments are very relaxing. Following treatments, clients feel invigorated, with a sense of wholeness and a calm state of body, mind and spirit. It takes a few days for the energies to be fully absorbed and on rare occasions a client may feel some temporary healing reactions after the first treatment as toxins and negative emotions are released from the body. During that time a client may feel just a little worse for a short while, which indicates that they are releasing the cause of the symptoms. Drinking plenty of water after sessions helps to flush toxins out of the system and to minimise side effects.
Healing works as a preventive and curative therapy, stimulating the body’s ‘chi’ or ‘intrinsic life energy’ that flows throughout and around our bodies. A diseased condition exists in this energy field before manifesting in our physical body. This is the dimension where the majority of healing is usually needed. When this energy is blocked, our health systems are diminished and we feel ‘stressed’. When stresses are prolonged, our internal functions can become disrupted. Suppressed, painful emotions from our past, even from our childhood, can affect our present health, behaviour, confidence, relationships and state of mind.
How many sessions should the client need before they see a result
This will vary from person to person. Sometimes just one session is all that is needed, while other times several sessions are recommended to get to the underlying cause of the presenting problem. For optimal results, the patient needs to be willing and open minded.
