ART AT NINE SPRINGS
Nin
e Springs is based in a delightful Georgian building and we are happy to offer artists the opportunity to exhibit their work throughout the building. This also gives them the chance to sell to visitors, clients and those who attend openings and events at the Centre. If you are interested in attending the occasional preview evenings that we put on please contact Health Centre Manager, Teresa Rose - teresa.rose@ninespringsclinic.org or 01935 476234.
NEW EXHIBITION OF WORK by
JENNIFER HILL
and
MARGARET HOBBY
.
Apart from an O-level in art attained in 1969, JENNIFER had no formal training and only started to get really interested in art in the early 1990s following a move to Somerset from Essex and giving up full-time working. Since then she has attended several workshops and courses, both locally and further afield, learning techniques for watercolour, acrylic and oil painting and experimenting with a variety of styles. In 2007/08 she did a printmaking course at Strode College in Street and since October 2008 she has been etching at the Dove Studios, Butleigh, under the guidance of Bronwen Bradshaw. A lot of her work is inspired by nature and she is currently working on a series of leaf etchings. Last year she joined Somerset Art Works and will be taking part in the 2010 Open Studios Event in September.

MARGARET is an artist and a teacher of the Alexander Technique with a consuming interest in all forms of healing and earth energies. She lives in an old cottage in a quiet corner of the Blackdown Hills in Somerset. The cottage has a large meandering and rather wild garden in which she now has a modern studio and a grass labyrinth. The views across to the hills are inspiring and the relaxing atmosphere conducive to painting. Being a Colourist, she learnt to paint in oils through copying the Impressionists. She has recently begun concentrating more on acrylic and watercolour with some collage. Her output is prolific and the paintings include many of each medium. She paints mostly landscapes and flowers trying to create energy pictures which reflect the increased intensity of the light since the beginning of this century.
