ACUPRESSURE MASSAGE- seated

Practitioner

Richard Bertschinger

Brief explanation of the therapy

Seated Acupressure Massage is based on the traditional Japanese technique ‘Anma’, a forerunner of Shiatsu. The client leans forward in a specially designed chair, which allows the therapist to stimulate acupressure points on the head, neck, shoulders, arms and spine to improve the flow of energy through the body and balance and strengthen the muscular, circulatory and nervous systems. It is also sometimes called "On-site massage", as it is often used ‘on-site’ in workplaces and organisations.

What can the client expect at the appointment

There will be a brief consultation to ensure the massage you receive is appropriate to you. The massage itself lasts 20-25 mins. You remain fully clothed, and no oils are used.

What will happen in a session

After the consultation you will settle into the specially designed chair and the practitioner will carry out the therapy.

What can the therapy help

Acupressure massage is great for:
  • relieving stress
  • relieving tension
  • loosening knotted, tight muscles
  • easing aches and pains
  • releasing a flow of energy
  • leaving you relaxed and energised at the same time.

Who would benefit from this type of therapy

Most people, but particularly busy people with little time to relax!  However, because of the structure of the massage chair, this massage may not be suitable for pregnant women, or those who are unable to sit comfortably in the same position in a chair for half an hour.
